NEW DELHI: Over 60 people have returned to India from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) using the Nepal route this year and have been rehabilitated by the state government there.
However, the security agencies were disturbed over the fact that these people had crossed over to India using the Nepal route and the ease with which they were able to reach J and K without being apprehended on their way, army sources said here.
More than 390 people, including a number of families, have returned to India from PoK, to their homes in Jammu and Kashmir using the route from Nepal, they said.
Most of the people had crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at the time when militancy was at its peak in the Kashmir Valley and were misguided by the Pakistani propaganda of leading a better life on the other side, they said.
Sources said security agencies have also carried out background checks on these people and have found a majority of them to be innocent and not associated with any type of anti-India activity.
However, all precautions are being taken while dealing with them, they said.
