20 naxals killed in Chhattisgarh encounters


At least twenty Maoists were reportedly killed and six CRPF jawans injured in three separate encounters in Bastar zone in south Chhattisgarh on early Friday morning. Six rebels also sustained injuries and ten others were taken into custody after the gunfight.

The CRPF personnel were out on search operation at Basaguda in Bijapur district about 450 km south of Raipur when they were reportedly attacked by the guerillas resulting in the fierce gun-battle, the police said.
"We have recovered seventeen bodies so far after the encounter which occurred at around midnight. Two bodies have been already identified. Six CRPF personnel were also injured in the attack," Prashant Agrawal, Bijapur SP told defencenow.
One of the rebels was taken to the hospital, who succumbed to his injury at Bijapur.
The casualty figure of the guerillas may rise, the police stated.
The injured personnel have been air-lifted to Raipur for urgent medical attention. The conditions of two jawans were stated to be critical.
